At Lostwithiel Primary School we believe in promoting good mental health and wellbeing for the whole school community. With the pressures of modern life, social media and the impact of the pandemic affecting us all, it is no wonder that we are seeing an increase in mental health problems with children.

At Lostwithiel we place high importance on our mental health and wellbeing. Each child is encouraged to identify a trusted adult who they can speak to in times of worry or anxiety. This does not have to be their class teacher – it may be a previous class teacher or even a member of the office team – we are always available for our pupils.

Support for pupils

We have a graduated response to issues involving mental health and our staff are always available to talk to parents and carers about any concerns they may have about their child.  As well as this, we have a bespoke Forest School Curriculum which places great emphasis on developing pupils mental and physical health and teaching them techniques to encourage resilience and self-regulation which they will be able to use throughout their lifetime.
