Welcome to the Woods!

Here at Lostwithiel Primary School we place great emphasis on including our beautiful grounds into our curriculum. Giving children green spaces to explore is a powerful way to teach children about wellbeing - both physical and mental - as well as developing key skills for the future such as problem solving, resilience, co-operation and teamwork.

Our Forest School Curriculum is founded upon our core values of the 5P's - Pride, Passion, Partnership, Perseverance and Participation. Threaded through this curriculum is a focus on positive mental health and children are taught mindfulness techniques such as breathing exercise and meditation in their Forest School sessions - lifelong skills which aid wellbeing. As well as this, pupils make use of our garden area to grow their own food and learn how to care for the environment.

Each class has a weekly dedicated Forest School session and details of our curriculum can be found below. As well as this, Forest School and our surrounding grounds provide children with a wealth of resources that can be used in other areas of the curriculum and our staff actively seek opportunities to get pupils outdoors in nature.
